Leslie Korein

Hi, I'm Leslie. I grew up in New York, the middle of 3 sisters, and graduated Oberlin College with a theater degree and a minor in psychology. I've spent over a decade honing my skills as a master improviser and adapting non-traditional source material for the stage with arts ed organization, THE STORY PIRATES. I work as a director, teaching artist and puppeteer, and co-created musicals based on FOUND magazine, ADVENTURE TIME and former youtube sensation, FRED.

In 2011, I moved to Los Angeles where I direct and perform at UPRIGHT CITIZENS BRIGADE, and with theater and music group LOST MOON RADIO. I starred as Tonya Harding in the hit UCB show TONYA HARDING: THE MUSICAL, and have written and directed several women-centered shorts and music videos that have been featured on Whohaha, Seeso and Collegehumor2, and have garnered international attention.

As a filmmaker, I strive to create inclusive intersectional work, and have won awards for directing, acting and writing at the Broad Humor Film Festival, the Atlanta Shortsfest and the Storymode Independent Short Film Awards. I was a staff writer on the first 2 seasons of Smosh's show PART TIMERS and I’m a proud member of both SAG-AFTRA and the WGA.
